Kristin Sewak is the Executive Director of Natural Biodiversity. Kristin is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Terrestrial Ecology. She served two years in AmeriCorps with the Conemaugh Valley Conservancy in Johnstown, crafting the Kiski-Conemaugh Greenway Feasibility Study. Kristin also consulted with the Juniata Clean Water Partnership on the creation of the Raystown Huntingdon and Broad Top Greenway Plan. In 2000, Kristin and partners initiated the Natural Biodiversity program in response to citizen disdain for invasive species in Kiski-Conemaugh riparian areas. In 2010, she recruited Natural Biodiversity's Founding Board of Directors, membership and staff. Kristin is certified as a National Wildlife Federation Habitat Stewards Host. She also serves on the board of directors of the Stonycreek-Conemaugh River Improvement Project (SCRIP). In September, 2010, Kristin was honored with Pennsylvania Environmental Council's "40 under 40" young environmental leader award. She was the 2007 recipient of Roaring Run Watershed Association’s Environmentalist of the Year Award. She is married to David Sewak, and the couple has three children, Aedan, Cassidy and Sage. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing.
