Outdoor Heritage is a free, two-day environmental education field trip for elementary school students that occurs at the end of April annually. In 2009, the event will take place on April 23-24, at Summer’s Best Two Weeks camp along the Quemahoning Reservoir in northern Somerset County (Google Maps). Through this event, students, educators and schools will become empowered to utilize the sciences and other disciplines to explore developing solutions to some of the most pressing environmental challenges of the day.
Schools, Educators and Home-schooling Parents:
- Expose your kids, grades 3-9, to the cultural and natural heritage of our region.
- Inspire the next generation of conservationists.
- Provide valuable lessons in history, ecology, and social responsibility--taught with interactive activities, hands-on displays and peer-to-peer methods.
- Sign up early as space is limited.
- Donations from schools and parents are welcomed and greatly appreciated!
We will send materials that will prepare you and your students for the Outdoor Heritage experience.
